HLCX Repaint Project in Huron, SD

Starting in late 2021, red HLCX GP38-2 locomotives have made their way to RCP&E's Huron, SD engine shop. All of this motive power has been sent there to be repainted for other G&W railways around the states. There have been two batches so far. The first batch showed up in September of 2021 and sat through the winter until being painted in the spring. Over the next few months, they were dispersed to their designated railroads. A second batch showed up around August of 2022. They are currently sitting at the shop. Some new paint jobs have started to emerge.

Current Brookings BR1 Train Engine

The BR1 train starts every morning around 8:00 AM and does jobs in the Aurora and Sioux Valley rail yards, often passing though Brookings many times a day. The engine usually returns to Brookings by itself anywhere from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and parks at the small depot. The engine responsible for running the BR1 is switched out about every month or so.
